First GRMC Team Excellence Award Presented to ICU Department

First GRMC Team Excellence Award Presented to ICU Department

GRMC’s ICU Department is the first unit in the hospital to win the new Team Excellence Award. The ICU team exemplified the criteria for the new award, showing “ collaboration on a project or effort that advances the organization’s goals and supports our mission.” Through their teamwork and dedication, the ICU staff kept a patient needing a pacemaker in good spirits and in stable condition as he waited for an OR to open through two unscheduled C-sections. The patient’s daughter wrote a moving letter to the hospital, commending the staff for their positive attitude and attentive manner. “I’ve been a nurse for 37 years,” she wrote, “with most of my career working in critical care and cardiac cath lab, and I can say that I would be honored to work alongside any of the excellent staff that our family met during my dad’s hospital stay.” Thank you, ICU staff, for your caring commitment to treat every patient like family!
