Emergency Room Technician

Emergency Department

Under the supervision of the physicians and/or Registered Nurse, the Emergency Department Technician performs various patient care activities necessary in providing for the personal needs and comfort of patient. They assist licensed personnel as assigned. The Emergency Department Technician performs clerical duties including order entry, supply billing, ordering of supplies, and answering phones throughout each shift.

High School or equivalent plus 3–12-month training program required. EMT-B preferred, or equivalent in-house training preferred.

  • Full-time, 36 hours/week
  • 2nd & 3rd shift, rotating weekends & holidays


Mental Health Nurse Practitioner: Inpatient & Outpatient

Specialty Physicians of Garrett County – Health & Wellness

The Mental Health Nurse Practitioner will be responsible for direct patient care and inpatient evaluations for patients with mental health diagnosis. The Mental Health Nurse Practitioner will provide medical and psychological services to patients and families, inclusive of all functions necessary to provide quality medical care; follow medical protocols, handouts and clinical standards. They will collaborate with inpatient staff and medical providers on recommendation for care.

Three to five years of related work experience required. Master’s Degree in Mental Health Nurse Practitioner or above required. Clinical expertise in mental health area required. SAMHSA and/or DATA training completion required. Advanced Practice Registered Nurse required. MD State CRNP Certification required. MD DEA and CDS required. Must be a member in good standing with the GRMC Medical Staff with active privileges.

Director of Emergency Services

Emergency Department

The Director of Emergency Services is a registered nurse who is responsible for the administrative management on a 24-hour basis. Management includes leading, planning, organizing, and improving patientcare; meeting standards; preparation and control of budget; personnel management; development of goals and compliance with Quality Assurance Programs. The Director will assist with emergency management activities and will attend and represent on hospital committee meetings. The Director will co-chair the Department of Emergency Medicine Committee and will be the liaison with local EMS services. The Director will co-lead the Joint Commission Stroke Readiness Program with the Stroke Coordinator. The Director will collaborate with the Medical Director of the Emergency Department for best practices and standards of care.

BSN Degree required. Master’s Degree preferred. CPR, ACLS, and PALS certifications required. TNCC certification preferred. Lean Six Sigma Yellow Belt Certification within one year in position required. Approximately 3-5 years of administrative experience. 5 years or greater of experience as an Emergency Department nurse. Clear communication skills required. Conflict management experience required. Registered Nurse Maryland or Multi-State Registered Nurse license required.

Staff Nurse

Post-Anesthesia Care Unit

The Post Anesthesia Care Unit Registered Nurse (RN) is a professional caregiver who assumes responsibility for patients surrounding the operative period (pre and post).  The RN is responsible for implementing care specific to the ages and needs of the individual patient.  The RN ensures care in an efficient and safe manner, is consistent with the standard of care, and utilizes ASPAN guidelines.

Associates Nursing degree required. Critical Care experience preferred. To work in the PACU you must be a Registered Nurse in good standing licensed in Maryland or another compact state who is eligible to practice in Maryland. PALS certification is required or must be obtained within the first year of hire.

  • Part-Time, 20 hours/week

Manager of Facilities Management

Facilities and Engineering Department

The Manager of Facilities and Engineering, Security and EVS manages the Facilities Department, oversees department budget and staff along with the Supervisor of Facilities.  Plans and organizes, directs, and controls the safety management program, equipment management program, utility management program. Oversees facility maintenance, preventative services, and inspections. Oversees the Security Department program and staff.  The Manager of Facilities and Engineering will also supervise the Manager of Environmental Services/Laundry. The Manager will attend departmental meetings and coordinate functions with the CNO. The Manager of Facilities and Engineering will collaborate with the Director of Facilities Engineering and Construction for both Garrett Regional and Potomac Valley Hospitals.

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering with a concentration in mechanical, electrical, industrial engineering required, OR 10 years’ experience in plant operations and maintenance in an acute healthcare setting. Driver’s license required. Grade 1 Stationary Engineer License required. Lean Six Sigma Yellow Belt certification required within one year in position.

Registered Nurse

Intensive Care Unit

Assumes responsibility and accountability for a group of patients for a designated time frame. Coordinates and implements patient care specific to the age of the patient population served on the assigned units. Ensures  quality care is provided in an efficient and safe manner, consistent with the units standard of care.

Applicant must be a graduate from an accredited school of nursing with current license in Maryland or Multi-State licensure. Certifications specific by department are required but can be obtained using our internal education program. Assistance for fees to transfer or apply for licensure is available. Minimum of one year of nursing experience preferred.

Crisis Counselor

Patient Care Management

The crisis counselor provides assessment and evaluation for mental health patients in order to determine the appropriate plan for services.

Bachelor’s level Social Work or Related Field preferred. Will consider LBSW, BSN, RN, or LPN with mental health experience.

Med Surg Unit

The Certified Nursing Assistant follows the plan of care as directed by the professional nursing staff and assists in maintaining a positive physical and psychosocial environment for the patients.

Clinical Coordinator/Registered Nurse

Med Surg Department

The Clinical Coordinator is a registered nurse who under the direction of the Nurse Manager is responsible for promoting and maintaining quality care through effective management of the activities of the patient care unit during his/her assigned shift.

LCSW-C or LCPC

Specialty Physicians of Garrett County – Health & Wellness Center

The Licensed Social Worker or Licensed Professional Counselor will be responsible for interviewing clients presenting to the Behavioral Health Center. They will provide counseling services and assist with resources and ancillary services to provide comprehensive care to the clients.  They will collaborate with the team to develop plans of care for the clients to maximize their state of wellness. They will make consults to various community agencies and assist with other social needs as presented.  The social worker or counselor will participate in weekly patient conference with WVU psychiatrists.  They must have the ability to respond to emergency situations and de-escalation techniques.  They will be responsible for accurate and timely record documentation for client care and billing.

Master’s level social worker or counselor required. LCSW-C or LCPC required.

Environmental Services Associate

Environmental Services Department

The Environmental Services Associate cleans walls, lights, fixtures, and furniture in all assigned areas of the hospital to maintain as aseptic environment and prevent healthcare-associated infection, using standard cleaning procedures and chemicals. Cleans, waxes, extracts, and maintains floors, carpeting, and stairwells and assists with heavy cleaning throughout the hospital.

High School diploma or GED preferred but not required. Must have reading, writing and math skills adequate to work independently to perform duties in a safe, competent manner. Previous related experience of at least 3 months preferred.

Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA)

Garrett Anesthesia Services, LLC.

A Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) is an advanced practice registered nurse
(APRN) who practices both autonomously and in collaboration with a variety of health providers
on the inter professional team to deliver high-quality, holistic, evidence-based anesthesia and
pain care services. The CRNA cares for patients at all acuity levels across the lifespan in a
variety of settings for procedures including, but not limited to, surgical, obstetrical, diagnostic,
therapeutic, and pain management.

Requirements include: Graduate of a nurse anesthesia educational program accredited by the Council on Accreditation of Nurse Anesthesia Educational Programs, or its predecessor; Holds current active state licensure as a registered nurse in the state of Maryland and complies with any applicable state statutory and regulatory requirements concerning CRNAs; Is currently certified or recertified by the National Board of Certification and Recertification for Nurse Anesthetists.

Social Worker

Health and Wellness Center

The Social Worker plans, organizes, and implements social work services for patients and families. This includes counseling and seeking resources to meet the patient’s needs. Directs department staff, oversees scheduling, and evaluations. Manages and oversees the clinical social workers and crisis counselors. Is available for Crisis Intervention.

Masters in Social Work from accredited college or university required. Approximately 1 year of related work experience required. LCSW-C or LCPC required.

HIM Coding Specialist

Health Information Management Department

The HIM Coding Specialist ensures accurate and appropriate gathering of information into the coding classification systems to meet departmental, hospital and outside agency requirements. This includes ensuring appropriate reimbursement, compliance, and charging with the various coding guidelines and regulatory agencies. Responsible for obtaining accurate and complete documentation in the medical record for accurate coding/MS-DRG assignment, severity of illness and risk of mortality for each medical record. Must code inpatients and/or interventional RAD cardiology/radiology 90% of current FTE status. Responsible for the coding of the highly complex patient classes i.e. inpatient, interventional, etc.

Requires a High School Diploma or equivalent. Certification in one of the following required: RHIT, RHIA, CCS, COC-A, COC, Formerly CPC-H, or CIC. Graduate of Health Information Technology (HIT) or equivalent program OR Medical Coding Certification Program (preferred). Three (3) years of hospital inpatient coding or interventional radiology (IRAD) hospital coding experience.

Accountant

Accounting Department

The Accountant’s primary responsibility is with the accounting functions for the Hospital (Parent) and its subsidiaries. The Accountant will assist in the gathering, compiling, analyzing and presentation of financial information for budgeting, reporting, regulatory purposes.  The Accountant will assist in the preparation of cost reimbursement reports to governmental and third party agencies. The Accountant will assist in special cost studies and analysis of specific parts of the hospital’s operations as a basis for managerial decisions.

BA/BS degree with major in Accounting required. Excellent verbal and written communication skills required.  Masters in Business Administration preferred.  CPA license preferred.  Planning, organizational, and strong analytical skills essential.  Must have strong spreadsheet skills (i.e. Excel).  Healthcare experience and knowledge of HSCRC preferred.  One to three (1-3) years of general ledger experience in an automated environment preferred, CPR certification required, but may obtain on-site.

MLT or MT

Laboratory Department

The Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) performs standard tests, obtains and prepares specimens for testing, determines and evaluates results, records and reports tests results, performs quality control procedures, performs routine maintenance on equipment according to established policies and procedures. Functions in all areas of the laboratory.

The Medical Technologist (MT) performs standard tests, obtains and prepares specimens for testing, determines and evaluates results, records and reports test results, performs quality control procedures, performs routine maintenance on equipment according to established policies and procedures. Functions in all areas of the laboratory.

Job Qualifications: 

MLT- associate’s degree in Medical Technology required. CPR certification required, but can be obtained on site.

MT- AA degree in Medical Technology required. BA/BS degree in Medical Technology preferred. MT (ASCP or equivalent) required. CPR certification required, but can be obtained on site.

Physician

Specialty Physicians of Garrett County, LLC- Grantsville Medical Center

The Grantsville Medical Center CRNP or Physician will plan, implement and maintain a program of health and wellness for patients and families. The CRNP or Physician will evaluate, diagnose, and deliver of plan of care and evaluation for these patients on an individual basis. The CRNP or Physician will perform a thorough assessment, evaluation and treatment of patients presenting with medical conditions and stabilize their conditions. The CRNP or the Physician will make the determination regarding when transfer of patients is necessary. The Physician will perform minor procedures in the as outlined in their credentialing. The Physician will arrange for follow up care for patients and their families. The CRNP or Physician will care for patients of all ages from infancy to elderly. The Physician will participate in Quality Assurance/Performance Improvement activities as well as Maryland payment model initiatives. The CRNP or Physician will attend hospital committee meetings, as appropriate.

Physician candidates must be Board Certified or Board Eligible in Family Medicine. Individual must have active MD licensure, DEA and CDS and will be required to credential with the Medical Staff of Garrett Regional Medical Center for outpatient practice. Preference would be given to candidates who have at least two (2) years’ experience in primary, urgent or emergency care services. CPR certification required, ACLS preferred.

Physician’s Assistant or CRNP

The Hospitalist Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant provides direct medical care to patients requiring hospitalization. They chart medical history, assess health status, diagnose any potential issues, and work with physicians and other health professionals to provide high-quality care.

Master of Science degree in a Nurse Practitioner Program or Physician Assistant Program from an accredited graduate program. Must be licensed to practice in Maryland and able to maintain unrestricted licensure/certification to practice medicine per state guidelines. Maintain Board Certification, DEA Certification, DOT Certification. Demonstrate ability to calculate drug dosages. Demonstrate ability to handle emergency situations calmly and effectively. Demonstrate the ability to maintain good inter-personal relationships with co-workers and health team members. Document continuing education per licensure and certification requirements and clinic protocols.  Must demonstrate knowledge of the rationale of appropriate patient care. Approximately 3-5 years of related work experience required.
