RN OPPORTUNITIES

Experienced Nurses will receive a sign-on bonus of $10,000 with a two (2) year signing agreement required.  Half will be paid at time of signing and the remaining half at end of the two year commitment.

Temporary housing available across from the hospital or options for re-location with expenses up to $3000 eligible for reimbursement.   

  • Med-Surg:  Full-Time, 40 hours per week;  primarily nights, rotating weekends and rotating holidays

Applicant must be a graduate from an accredited school of nursing with current license in Maryland or Multi-State licensure. Certifications specific by department are required but can be obtained using our internal education program. Assistance for fees to transfer or apply for license is available.

 

EMERGENCY DEPARTMENT STAFF NURSE

Assumes responsibility and accountability for a group of patients for a designated time frame.  Coordinates and implements patient care specific  to the age of the patient population served on the assigned units.  Ensures that quality    care is provided in an efficient and safe manner, consistent with the units standard of  care.

Graduate from an accredited school of nursing with current registration with the Maryland State Board of Nurse Examiners.  Must have ACLS and PALS or be willing to obtain within 6 months.

  • Part-Time, 24 hours per week
  • Rotating shifts
  • Rotating weekends, rotating holidays

 

MED-SURG LPN

Assumes responsibility and accountability for a group of patients for a designated time frame.  Coordinates and implements patient care specific to the age of the patient population served on the assigned units.  Ensures that quality care is provided in an efficient and safe manner, consistent with the units standard of care.

Graduate from an accredited school of nursing with current registration with the Maryland State Board of Nurse Examiners.  Recent Med-Surg experience preferred.

BEHAVIORAL HEALTH TELEMED CLINIC LPN

Responsible and accountable for the care of patients seeking outpatient telemedicine services   Coordinates and implements patient care under the direction of the patient’s Provider.  Ensures that quality care is provided in an efficient and safe manner, consistent with the facility’s standard of care.  Obtains vitals and takes histories; Assist the provider as they require with telemedicine visit.  Makes sure that previous lab tests and consults are in the chart for a patient coming in for follow up. Make sure appropriate consent forms have been signed; Refill medications as required by Provider, checking last refill, last office visit and when advised to return; Pre-screen faxes and test results and bring any abnormal results to the Provider’s attention; assists with care coordination with the patient’s PCP and other community agencies.  Is the liaison with the telemed providers and has patient visit ready ahead fo time and with follow-up after appointment.

Graduate from an accredited school of nursing with current registration with the Maryland State Board of Nurse Examiners.  BLS required.

CERTIFIED REGISTERED NURSE PRACTITIONER –      PRIMARY CARE/HOSPITALIST

The Nurse Practitioner will plan, implement and maintain a program of health and wellness for patients and families.  The Nurse Practitioner will evaluate, diagnose, and deliver of plan of care and evaluation for these patients on an individual basis. The Nurse Practitioner will perform a thorough assessment, evaluation and treatment of patients presenting with urgent conditions and stabilize their conditions.  Consultation will be obtained when needed by the Nurse Practitioner.  The Nurse Practitioner will arrange for follow up care for patients and their families.  The Nurse Practitioner will care for patients of all ages from infancy to elderly. The Nurse Practitioner will provide inpatient care and collaboration with attending physician.

Master of Science degree in a Nurse Practitioner Program from a NLN accredited graduate program.  Nurse Practitioners license to practice in Maryland.  Certification as an Adult or Family Nurse Practitioner.  Maintain unrestricted licensure/certification to practice medicine per state guidelines.  Maintain Board Certification, DEA Certification, DOT Certification.  Demonstrate ability to calculate drug dosages.  Demonstrate ability to handle emergency situations calmly and effectively.  Demonstrate the ability to maintain good inter-personal relationships with co-workers and health team members.  Document continuing education per licensure and certification requirements and clinic protocols.  Must demonstrate knowledge of the rationale of appropriate patient care.  3 Years of Nursing Experience, required

MED-SURG CERTIFIED NURSING ASSISTANT

Follows the plan of care as directed by the professional nursing staff and assists in maintaining a positive physical and psychosocial environment for the patients.

High school graduate or equivalent required.  Gradate from an approved nursing assistant program required.  Approximately one year related work experience preferred.  Maryland Board of Nursing – Nursing Assistant Certification required.

CERTIFIED PHLEBOTOMIST

Collects blood and other specimens, ensures suitability and integrity of specimens collected, performs duties in areas including inpatient, outpatient, and off-site services and assumes responsibility for the safety and comfort of patients following established standards, policies, and procedures. Also responsible for preparing specimens for testing, recording, and reporting of  waived test results.

High School or equivalent plus 3-12 month training program required.  Completion of a nationally accredited phlebotomy program with ability to obtain certification required.  3 months to 1 year related work experience preferred.  Driver’s license with clear MVA report.  Driver’s Safety Course required. Phlebotomy certification required.

DIRECTOR OF SURGICAL SERVICES

Oversees the administrative duties and daily operation of the Surgical Services Department. Maintains current knowledge of nursing practice in all areas of responsibility and holds staff accountable for practicing according to established standards, policies, and/or procedures. Prepares, maintains, and analyzes operating and capital budgets for all areas of responsibility. Responsible for troubleshooting equipment malfunctions, coordinating equipment repairs/replacement, and ensuring availability of critical surgical equipment and/or instrumentation. Works closely with other departments, vendors, and bio-medical technology services. Coordinates trials, evaluation, selection, and purchase of new equipment, technology, and/or instruments. Initiates appropriate action and follow-up related to performance improvement activities. Responsible for coordinating surgical peer review process. Attends Surgical Services Committee working closely with the Chief of Surgery to develop meeting agendas and follow-up. Investigates physician, patient, and/or family complaints, comments, and suggestions with effective action in an appropriate manner. Responsible for managing and maintaining the OR inventory, maximizing efficiency, ensuring patient safety, and maintaining adequate supply levels to accommodate scheduled surgeries. Responsible for the OR schedule, staffing and personnel. Completes performance evaluations and conducts interviews for the department. Serves as a member of the following committees: Department Leaders, Infection Control, Product Standardization and Evaluation, Radiation Safety, Clinical Operations and Surgical Services Committee. Responsible for compliance with Joint Commission and other regulatory body requirements for the surgical department.

Graduate of an accredited school of professional nursing. Current licensure (or eligible for licensure) as a registered professional nurse in the State of Maryland. BSN required and Master’s degree strongly preferred. Prior experience in leadership or director role required. At least 2 years of surgical services nursing experience required. Lean Six Sigma Yellow Belt certification required or willing to obtain within 6 months. Demonstrated ability in leading, planning, organizing, and improving patient care. Knowledge of current standards of nursing practice related to the OR, PACU, Central Sterile, and Ambulatory Nursing. Working knowledge of the budgeting process, inventory management, personnel management, goal setting, patient safety principles, and regulatory compliance required. Ability to manage and lead change. Strong communication skills and demonstrated ability to collaborate with other leaders, physicians, nursing staff, and other members of the health care team. Effective problem-solving and critical thinking skills.

SECURITY GUARD

The Security Guard at Garrett Regional Medical Center secures the premises and personnel by patrolling property; monitoring surveillance equipment; inspecting buildings, equipment, and access points, permitting entry, as necessary.  The Security Guard will maintain high visibility presence and prevent illegal or inappropriate actions.  Must have the ability to respond and cope with stressful patient and visitor related situations.  As the Facilities Maintenance Assistant, the individual will also assist the Plant Operation’s Department in building maintenance and repairs as assigned including but not limited to painting, mechanical repairs, and snow removal.

High School diploma or GED equivalent.  Must be at least 18 years of age or older.  Security experience preferred. Past or present members of the Armed Services are encouraged to apply.

CRISIS COUNSELOR

Provides assessment and evaluation for mental health patients in order to determine the appropriate plan for services.

Master’s level Social Work or Related Field preferred. Will consider LBSW or BSN with mental health experience.

ENVIRONMENTAL SERVICES ASSOCIATE

Cleans walls, lights, fixtures, and furniture in all assigned areas of the hospital to maintain as aseptic environment and prevent healthcare-associated infection, using standard cleaning procedures and chemicals. Cleans, waxes, extracts, and maintains floors, carpeting, and stairwells and assists with heavy cleaning throughout the hospital.

High School diploma or GED preferred but not required. Must have reading, writing and math skills adequate to work independently to perform duties in a safe, competent manner.  Previous related experience of at least 3 months preferred.

SECURITY REPRESENTATIVE

THIS IS A TEMPORARY POSITION TO LAST APPROXIMATELY 6 MONTHS

The Security Representative at Garrett Regional Medical Center secures premises and personnel by patrolling property; monitoring surveillance equipment; and access points; permitting entry. The Security Representative will maintain high visibility presence at the Main and Emergency Department Entrance in order to maintain compliance with all COVID19 guidelines.  The Security Representative will assist in guidance to patients during registration, enforce visitation hours, temperature monitoring kiosk usage, facial masking and other requirements as determined necessary to maintain a secure and safe facility during the COVID19 pandemic.

High School diploma or GED equivalent.  Must be at least 18 years of age or older.  Ability to work under stressful conditions, have keen observation qualities to remember details on incidents and locations.  Friendly and professional demeanor.

MEDICAL ASSISTANT  – PRIMARY CARE PHYSICIAN OFFICE

The Certified Medical Assistant assists the physician and patients by providing clinical and administrative support in the primary care office. The medical assistant with accurately obtain all demographic and payer information needed to produce a record. Accept payment, print receipts and prepare daily deposits accurately. Performs outpatient pre authorization/insurance verifications as required and informs patients about financial liabilities, requests appropriate copay and deductible amount at time of services. The medical assistant will assist the provider in the clinical area.

High school diploma or equivalent.  Must have medical assisting training and be familiar with medical terminology.  National Medical Assistant Certification required or able to obtain within 6 months of employment in position.  CPR certification required.

FACILITIES TECHNICIAN

The Maintenance Electrician performs a variety of electrical and/or mechanical maintenance activities/repairs on the hospital equipment.  The responsibilities Include diagnostics, troubleshooting and repairs on plant equipment which includes but not limited to boilers, chillers, generators, pumps, HVAC equipment, kitchen equipment, piping systems, wiring systems and specialized hospital equipment.  The applicant must be capable of performing general building repairs and snow removal.  Must have the ability to respond and cope with stressful patient related situations when needed to assist with Security concerns.

High School diploma or GED equivalent.  Must be at least 18 years of age or older.  A minimum of 5 years’ experience in the field of general maintenance repairs and operation of plant equipment is required.  Candidate must hold a Maryland Master or Journeyman Electrician License or equivalent with reciprocity to Maryland.  Applicants must be capable of obtaining a Maryland Stationary Engineer Grade 5 within 3 months and Grade 3 within 30 months of hire date.  Applicants not holding a Maryland Master Electrician License must be capable of obtaining the license within 2 years.

LPN SURGICAL TECHNICIAN

The LPN Surgical Technician, under the direction of the Surgeon or RN, performs technical skills and provides assistance to surgeons, anesthesia personnel, registered nurses, and other professionals in the operating room.  Performs similar duties in other areas of the hospital as assigned.

Graduate from an accredited school of nursing with current registration with the Maryland State Board of Nurse Examiners.   Medical Terminology and Anatomy coursework required or willing to obtain within one year of employment.  Approximately one year of related work experience required.  Individual understands that they will be ineligible to transfer from the department for a period of two years.

EMERGENCY PHYSICIAN

Professional Emergency Physician Services, LLC (PEPS) has a need for an Emergency Medicine Physician to complement our Emergency Department. PEPS is a wholly owned subsidiary of Garrett Regional Medical Center, a WVU Health System affiliated hospital.

This position is full-time and offers a great opportunity for an ambitious individual to join an established team at a competitive rate of pay.

Preference would be given to candidates who have at least 2 years’ experience in primary, urgent or emergency care services. Candidates would have the professional knowledge and skills to be able to evaluate, diagnose, and deliver a plan of care for patients on an individual basis.  Candidate can be family medicine or emergency medicine board certified.

Our Emergency Department receives nearly 19,000 visits annually. Our Operating Room consists of three OR’s and two procedure rooms conducting roughly 3,000 general surgeries and 1,500 endoscopies annually. Our hospital has near 2,400 admissions, and 330 births each year.

FACILITIES ENGINEER

The Facilities Engineer will work under the direction of the AVP of Facilities Management to support the Facilities and Engineering Department in the daily operations. They will assist the AVP in the architectural, engineering and construction of all expansion, renovation and capital projects of the facility. Duties include daily management and technical support to the Plant Operations group, compliance to Joint Commission standards related to the F/E plans, policies, and procedures; support the Plant Operations group of management with IT related systems. The Facilities Engineer will be responsible for assisting with the creation and updating of the reference library and equipment files which will include the CADD update of all drawings on record.   The Facilities Engineer will assist in the activities of the Safety and Security, Emergency Management, Environment of Care and the Emergency Operations procedures of the hospital.

Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related fields required.   Prior experience in facilities engineering, facilities maintenance or construction management preferred. Candidate must be proficient in Microsoft Office Applications, AutoCAD, Process Improvement, and Lean Six Sigma. Candidate must be capable of obtaining a Maryland Grade 3 Stationary Engineers license within 3 years of hire date.
