Certified Medical Assistant

Integrative Pain Management Center

The Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) assists with clinical and administrative assistance in the Integrative Pain Management Center. The CMA will accurately register and schedule the patient; obtain demographic and insurance information, collect payments, provide receipts, and prepare daily deposits. The CMA will obtain vital signs, perform and document interviews and prepare patient for examination and/or treatment. Duties will include preparing the examination/procedure room, assisting the physician and providers with procedures, recording examination/treatment results, and inventorying and ordering supplies. The CMA will also provide education, resources, referrals, and instructions to patients.

High school diploma or equivalent required. Must have medical assisting training and be familiar with medical terminology. National Medical Assistant Certification required.

Patient Admissions Representative

Patient Care Access Department

Accurately obtains all demographic and payer information needed to produce a patient record. Handles switchboard and paging functions for the hospital. Accepts payments, writes receipts and prepares daily deposit accurately. Performs outpatient pre-authorizations/insurance verifications as required and informs patients about financial liabilities. Requests appropriate co-pay and deductible amount at time of registration. Responds accurately to Caring Program or payment plan inquiries.

High School diploma or equivalent with training or experience in general clerical functions required.

Patient Liaison

Patient Financial Services Department

The ACSE/HPE Patient Liaison accurately verifies insurance coverage, eligibility, and benefits on scheduled same day surgery accounts. Discusses and documents insurance coverage, eligibility, and anticipated out-of-pocket expenses with all applicable scheduled patients. Also, provides assistance to patients with The Caring Program application and Meditech Patient Portal. Responsible for processing release of information (ROI), specifically patient medical record requests in a timely and efficient manner.

High School diploma or equivalent required. Approximately three years of related work experience required.

Crisis Counselor

Patient Care Management Department

The crisis counselor provides assessment and evaluation for mental health patients in order to determine the appropriate plan for services.

Bachelor’s level Social Worker or Related Field preferred. Will consider LBSW, BSN, RN, or LPN with Mental Health experience.

The Unit Secretary attends the nursing station and performs clerical and receptionist duties. Requisition supplies, equipment, and services as directed.

Facilities Maintenance Assistant

Plant Operations Department

The Facilities Maintenance Assistant will assist the Facilities Department in building maintenance and repairs, snow shoveling, and snow plowing of all hospital and remote sites, as assigned.

Dietary Cook

Dietary Department

The Dietary Aide/Cook performs a variety of tasks in kitchen, tray line, cafeteria, storage, and dishwashing areas. Prepares and cooks food for patients, employees, and visitors according to standards, practices, and procedures. Assists in the overall sanitation of the department and equipment.

High School Diploma or equivalent preferred. Approximately 1 year of on-the-job training in food preparations, cooking, and principles of sanitation and safety preferred.

Front Desk Receptionist

Public Relations – Hospital Lobby

The Front Desk Receptionist will be responsible for greeting patients and visitors as they enter the hospital. They will greet each person, ask their reason for visiting, and direct them accordingly. The position will also control the flow of patients to the admission bays, ensuring that people are seen in the correct order. The position will direct patients and visitors to the departments they need to visit. The position can also cover light office duties for the admissions staff as possible. The position will also be able to help patients with basic information about departments such as Health Information Management and Patient Financial Services, and the hospital’s Caring Program as needed.

High School Diploma or equivalent required. Experience working with the public and ability to multi-task desired. Some knowledge of basic medical terminology preferred.

Registered Nurse

Cancer Care Center

The Cancer Care Institute Registered Nurse is a professional caregiver who assumes responsibility and accountability for a group of patients for a designated time frame. The RN is a clinical practitioner who coordinates and implements patient care specific to the age of the patient population served on the unit. The RN ensures quality care is provided in an efficient and safe manner, consistent with the unit’s standard of care.

Associate’s degree in nursing required. BSN preferred. Maryland State Registered Nurse License required. Oncology Certification or willing to obtain within six (6) months. CPR Certification required. ACLS Certification must be obtained within one (1) year of employment.

Phlebotomist

Laboratory Department

The Phlebotomist collects blood and other specimens, ensures suitability and integrity of specimens collected, performs duties in areas including inpatient, outpatient and off-site services and assumes responsibility for the safety and comfort of patients following established standards, policies and procedures.

High School Diploma or equivalent, plus 3-12-month training program required. 3 months to 1 year of work-related experience preferred. Phlebotomy CPT preferred.

Pharmacy Technician

Pharmacy Department

Pharmacy Technicians (PT’s) assist pharmacists in preparing and distributing medications, maintaining the drug inventory, and maintaining patient records. PT’s work only under the supervision of a pharmacist. They do not perform duties that can legally be performed only by a pharmacist.

High School Diploma or equivalent required. Certified Pharmacy Technician
(CPhT) by the Maryland State Board of Pharmacy required. College courses desirable but not required. Two – Three years Pharmacy Technician experience preferred.

Social Worker

Health and Wellness Center

The Social Worker plans, organizes, and implements social work services for patients and families. This includes counseling and seeking resources to meet the patient’s needs. Directs department staff, oversees scheduling, and evaluations. Manages and oversees the clinical social workers and crisis counselors. Is available for Crisis Intervention.

Masters in Social Work from accredited college or university required. Approximately 1 year of related work experience required. LCSW-C or LCPC required.

Advanced Practice Provider

WVU Medicine Hematology/Oncology Infusion Center

Full-Time, 40 hours/week

The Advance Practice Professional (APP) is an individual with clinical skills and medical skills, with an expertise in the care of Hematology/Oncology (hem/onc) patients.  The APP completes comprehensive patient health evaluations (including biological, social, and psychological assessments), taking into account their co-morbid conditions and overall disposition; in collaboration with the appropriate clinical/faculty team.  The APP assesses and coordinates the educational and psychosocial needs of the patient and caretakers.  The APP develops and reviews the plan of care with the other members of the clinical team, participates in directing that care, and coordinates discharge planning/and or follow-up (as applicable).  The APP participates in the education of residents and medical/nursing students and performs diagnostic procedures and therapeutic procedures.

Minimum Qualifications:

Nurse Practitioner:

  • Graduate of a CCNE accredited nursing program with Master’s Degree in Nursing.
  • National Certification by one of the recognized APRN Certification Centers.
  • Licensure, or eligibility for licensure, as a professional Registered Nurse and Advanced Practice Registered Nurse in West Virginia.
  • BLS Certification required with additional Advanced Life Support training at the discretion of the department.
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) at the discretion of the department.
  • Eligible new graduates will be considered.

Physician Assistant:

  • Bachelor’s Degree as Physician Assistant or Master’s degree as Physician Assistant required.
  • Graduate of an ARC-PA approved Physician Assistant (PA) training program required.
  • Certification by the National Commission for Certification of Physician Assistants required.
  • Must be licensed or eligible for licensure by the WV Board of Medicine.
  • BLS Certification required with additional Advanced Life Support training at the discretion of the department.
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) at the discretion of the department.

Respiratory Therapist

Cardiopulmonary Department

$10,000 Signing Bonus with Two Year Commitment

The Respiratory Therapist provides respiratory therapy and Cardiopulmonary Diagnostic services to patients as ordered by physicians. This includes all relevant documentation according to GRMC established standards and practices. All therapeutic interventions will be guided by AARC Clinical Practice Guidelines and GRMC policy. Age specific competencies regarding C-P procedures for neonatal, adolescent, adult and geriatric patients will be documented annually. Use of all equipment for therapy and diagnostics will be guided by manufacturer’s recommendations and GRMC policy. RCP’s will be guided by all hospital wide policies on I.C., Confidentiality, Ethics, etc. in all job related activities.

AA Degree from approved Respiratory Therapy Program required. Respiratory Therapists Maryland State Respiratory Care Practitioner Certification required. CPR required. Must be very organized and self-directed. Strong communication skills and clinical knowledge necessary. Excellent patient relations skills essential. Computer experience helpful.

In Patient Coder

Health Information Management Department

The Certified Coding Specialist reviews and analyzes Inpatient and Outpatient records to determine correct code assignment and prepares and/or reports necessary data to regulatory agencies in accordance with state and federal guidelines. Maintains the Meditech abstracting system in accordance with GRMC protocol. Management of hospital data as requested by other hospital departments. Interacts with medical staff and works closely with the Inpatient Clinical Documentation Specialist to assure all medical information is documented to assure maximum reimbursement. Effectively coordinates scheduled daily activities to ensure meeting productivity standards and completing work. Generate reports for TQM of the department. In the spirit of a team approach to the provision of services, adapts to changes in the work environment and workload, making necessary adjustments to support coworkers and promote equity in work assignments.

Requires a High School Diploma or equivalent. CCS, CIC, RHIA or RHIT required. 3-5 years of inpatient coding experience required.

Accountant

Accounting Department

The Accountant’s primary responsibility is with the accounting functions for the Hospital (Parent) and its subsidiaries. The Accountant will assist in the gathering, compiling, analyzing and presentation of financial information for budgeting, reporting, regulatory purposes.  The Accountant will assist in the preparation of cost reimbursement reports to governmental and third party agencies. The Accountant will assist in special cost studies and analysis of specific parts of the hospital’s operations as a basis for managerial decisions.

BA/BS degree with major in Accounting required. Excellent verbal and written communication skills required.  Masters in Business Administration preferred.  CPA license preferred.  Planning, organizational, and strong analytical skills essential.  Must have strong spreadsheet skills (i.e. Excel).  Healthcare experience and knowledge of HSCRC preferred.  One to three (1-3) years of general ledger experience in an automated environment preferred, CPR certification required, but may obtain on-site.

Laboratory Department

The Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) performs standard tests, obtains and prepares specimens for testing, determines and evaluates results, records and reports tests results, performs quality control procedures, performs routine maintenance on equipment according to established policies and procedures. Functions in all areas of the laboratory.

Job Qualifications: 

MLT- associate’s degree in Medical Technology required. CPR certification required, but can be obtained on site.

MT- AA degree in Medical Technology required. BA/BS degree in Medical Technology preferred. MT (ASCP or equivalent) required. CPR certification required, but can be obtained on site.

Radiology Technologist

The Radiology Technologist operates radiographic/CT equipment to perform diagnostic x-ray and basic CT examinations as directed by physicians according to established standards and practices. Central Sterile Supply Technician

Surgical Services Department

The Central Sterile Supply Technician is responsible to clean and process instruments, maintain and provide specialty supplies and portable equipment that is necessary and essential to the care of the patient.

High School Diploma or equivalent required. Approximately one year of related work experience in healthcare preferred. Sterile Processing Certification preferred. CPR certification required, but able to obtain on-site.

Geriatric Nursing Assistant

WV or PA C.N.A. applicants can work as a Clinical Assistant while transferring their license. GRMC will pay for cost of transfer!

Anesthesiologist

Garrett Anesthesia Services, LLC

The Anesthesiologist cares for patients at all acuity levels across the lifespan in a variety of settings for procedures including, but not limited to, surgical, obstetrical, diagnostic, therapeutic, and pain management. High degree of autonomy.  Must be proficient in regional and blocks.  Supervision of CRNA’s and assistance with regulatory standards required.

Successful completion of an Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) or American Osteopathic Association (AOA)-accredited residency in Anesthesiology. Current certification or active participation in the examination process (with achievement of certification within four (4) years leading to certification anesthesiology by the American Board of Anesthesiology or the American Osteopathic Board of Anesthesiology. BLS, ACLS, and PALS required. Must have license to practice in the state of Maryland and be a member in good standing with the Medical Staff credentialing process.

Physician

Specialty Physicians of Garrett County, LLC- Grantsville Medical Center

The Grantsville Medical Center CRNP or Physician will plan, implement and maintain a program of health and wellness for patients and families. The CRNP or Physician will evaluate, diagnose, and deliver of plan of care and evaluation for these patients on an individual basis. The CRNP or Physician will perform a thorough assessment, evaluation and treatment of patients presenting with medical conditions and stabilize their conditions. The CRNP or the Physician will make the determination regarding when transfer of patients is necessary. The Physician will perform minor procedures in the as outlined in their credentialing. The Physician will arrange for follow up care for patients and their families. The CRNP or Physician will care for patients of all ages from infancy to elderly. The Physician will participate in Quality Assurance/Performance Improvement activities as well as Maryland payment model initiatives. The CRNP or Physician will attend hospital committee meetings, as appropriate.

Physician candidates must be Board Certified or Board Eligible in Family Medicine. Individual must have active MD licensure, DEA and CDS and will be required to credential with the Medical Staff of Garrett Regional Medical Center for outpatient practice. Preference would be given to candidates who have at least two (2) years’ experience in primary, urgent or emergency care services. CPR certification required, ACLS preferred.

Physician’s Assistant or CRNP

Specialty Physicians of Garrett County, LLC- Hospitalist

The Hospitalist Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant provides direct medical care to patients requiring hospitalization. They chart medical history, assess health status, diagnose any potential issues, and work with physicians and other health professionals to provide high-quality care.

Master of Science degree in a Nurse Practitioner Program or Physician Assistant Program from an accredited graduate program. Must be licensed to practice in Maryland and able to maintain unrestricted licensure/certification to practice medicine per state guidelines. Maintain Board Certification, DEA Certification, DOT Certification. Demonstrate ability to calculate drug dosages. Demonstrate ability to handle emergency situations calmly and effectively. Demonstrate the ability to maintain good inter-personal relationships with co-workers and health team members. Document continuing education per licensure and certification requirements and clinic protocols.  Must demonstrate knowledge of the rationale of appropriate patient care. Approximately 3-5 years of related work experience required.
