CERTIFIED NURSING ASSISTANT

Med-Surg

Follows the plan of care as directed by the professional nursing staff and assists in maintaining a positive physical and psychosocial environment for the patients.

High school graduate or equivalent required. Graduate from an approved nursing assistant program required. Approximately one year related work experience preferred.  Maryland Board of Nursing – Nursing Assistant Certification required.

TRANSCRIPTIONIST/SCANNING AND ARCHIVING TECHNICIAN

Health Information Management

The Transcriptionist transcribes medical reports, letters, and other correspondence using transcription equipment and word processor computer software. The Scanning and Archiving Technician assures all paper records are located, prepared, indexed, and scanned into the Meditech computer system. Performs quality check to analyze the quality of scanned documents according to hospital procedure. Demonstrates knowledge of medical record format and content for all patient records. Ability to review records and verify patient information.

High School Diploma or equivalent plus 13-24 months training program in transcription, anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology or equivalent experience required. 2 years office experience preferred.

CASH POSTING CLERK

Accounting

The Cash Posting Clerk coordinates all explanation of benefits to patient accounts. This person is responsible for GRMC and PEPS accounts. The primary goals of this position are to post payments and adjustments to accounts quickly and accurately, follow up on credits on the account, analyzing account balances for posting errors/issues, provide denial information to the collectors, and process refunds to patients/insurances in a timely manner.  In addition, this position is responsible for answering patient questions regarding refunds and the status of those refunds.

High School or equivalent required. Associate’s degree or certification preferred. 13-24 months training program or experience.

ENVIRONMENTAL SERVICES ASSOCIATE

Housekeeping Department

Cleans walls, lights, fixtures, and furniture in all assigned areas of Off-Site Offices and the hospital to maintain as aseptic environment and prevent healthcare-associated infection, using standard cleaning procedures and chemicals. Cleans, waxes, extracts, and maintains floors, carpeting, and stairwells and assists with heavy cleaning throughout the hospital.

High School diploma or equivalent preferred but not required. Must have reading, writing and math skills adequate to work independently to perform duties in a safe, competent manner.  Previous related experience of at least 3 months preferred.

Out-Patient Clinics 

The LPN is a professional caregiver who assumes responsibility and accountability for the care of patients for the outpatient clinics at Garrett Regional Medical Center. They are a clinical practitioner who coordinates and implements patient care specific to the age of the patient population served in the outpatient department. They will ensure quality care is provided in an efficient and safe manner, consistent with the facility’s standard of care.

Graduate of an accredited LPN program. Maryland State or West Virginia multistate LPN Certification required.

UNIT SECRETARY

Med-Surg

Attends the nursing station and performs clerical and receptionist duties. Requisition supplies, equipment, and services as directed.

Laboratory

Performs standard tests, obtains and prepares specimens for testing, determines and evaluates results,  records and reports test results, performs quality control procedures, performs routine maintenance on equipment according to established policies and procedures. Functions in all areas of the laboratory.

AA Degree in Medical Technology required. BA/BS Degree in Medical Technology preferred. MT (ASCP or equivalent) or equivalent required.

Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) RN

Surgical Services

The Post Anesthesia Care Unit Registered Nurse (RN) is a professional caregiver who assumes responsibility for patients surrounding the operative period (pre and post).  The RN is responsible for implementing care specific to the ages and needs of the individual patient.  The RN ensures care in an efficient and safe manner, is consistent with the standard of care, and utilizes ASPAN guidelines.

Graduate from an accredited school of nursing with current registration with the Maryland State Board of Nurse Examiners or West Virginia compact licensure required.  Must be willing to cross train to other areas of the surgical unit and Out Patient Surgery. Must be willing to obtain PALS/ACLS within the first year of hire.

Cancer/ Infusion Center RN

Cancer Care Institute/Infusion Center

 The Cancer Care Institute Registered Nurse is a professional caregiver who assumes responsibility and accountability for a group of patients for a designated time frame. The RN is a clinical practitioner who coordinates and implements patient care specific to the age of the patient population served on the unit. The RN ensures quality care is provided in an efficient and safe manner, consistent with the unit’s standard of care.

Associate’s degree in Nursing required. BSN preferred. MD State RN or WV Multistate Licensure required. Oncology certification required or willing to obtain within six months.

Out-Patient Clinic RN

Cancer Care Institute/Infusion Center

The RN is a professional caregiver who assumes responsibility and accountability for the care of patients for the outpatient clinics at Garrett Regional Medical Center. The RN is a clinical practitioner who coordinates and implements patient care specific to the age of the patient population served in the outpatient departments. The RN ensures quality care is provided in an efficient and safe manner, consistent with the facility’s standard of care. The RN will assist in caring for patients in the Cancer Center, Cancer Navigation, Radiology, Dermatology and Nephrology. The RN will help to keep equipment cleaned and maintained. Keep exam rooms/Chemo Chairs clean and ready for the next patient. The RN will assist in Radiology as needed for stress testing and procedures. The nurse will room patients, perform head to toe assessments, obtain vitals, update medication lists. Be aware of and follow all GRMC Hospital policies, including knowing the location of office manuals, plans, incident report forms and safety data sheets..

Associate’s degree in Nursing required. BSN preferred. MD State RN or WV Multistate Licensure required. Oncology certification required or willing to obtain within six months.

PURCHASING CLERK/ BUYER/ MATERICALS TECHNICIAN

Purchasing/General Stores

The Purchasing Clerk/Buyer purchases supplies, equipment and services required for the efficient and effective operation of the hospital. Maintains customer traveling purchase orders files and automated inventory files with correct unit price, unit measure and other pertinent data. Will cross train in General Stores to cover General Stores staff when needed.

The Materials Technician is responsible for receipt, storing, stocking and distribution of all materials delivered to the Materials Management Department by various vendors. Serves as customer representative in adjusting stock levels, adding/deleting products from cart and requisition work sheets. Must be able to lift up to and over 50 pounds on a routine basis.

High school graduate or equivalent required.  Heavy lifting required. CPR required.

CERTIFIED MEDICAL ASSISTANT

Integrative Pain Management Clinic

The Medical Assistant assists with clinical and administrative assistance in the pain center. The medical assistant will accurately register and schedule the patient; obtain demographic and insurance information, collect payments, provide receipts, and prepare daily deposits. The Medical Assistant will obtain vital signs, perform and document interviews and prepare patient for examination and/or treatment. Duties will include preparing the examination/procedure room, assisting the physician and providers with procedures, recording examination/ treatment/results, inventorying and ordering supplies. The Medical Assistant will also provide education, resources, referrals and instructions to the patient.

High school diploma or equivalent. Must have medical assisting training and be familiar with medical terminology. National Medical Assistant Certification required. CPR certification required.

ADMISSIONS REPRESENTATIVE

Patient Care Access Department

The Admissions Representative accurately obtains all demographic and payer information needed to produce a patient record. Handles switchboard and paging functions for the hospital. Accepts payments, writes receipts and prepares daily deposit accurately. Performs outpatient pre-authorizations/ insurance verifications as required and informs patients about financial liabilities. Requests appropriate co-pay and deductible amount at time of registration. Responds accurately to Caring Program or payment plan inquiries.

High School Diploma or equivalent with training or experience in general clerical functions. CPR required, but can be obtained within six months in position.

Applicant must be a graduate from an accredited school of nursing with current license in Maryland or Multi-State licensure. Certifications specific by department are required but can be obtained using our internal education program. Assistance for fees to transfer or apply for licensure is available.

SURGICAL TECHNICIAN

Surgical Services

The Operating Room Technician, under the direction of the Surgeon or RN, performs technical skills and provides assistance to surgeons, anesthesia personnel, registered nurses, and other professionals in the operating room.  Performs similar duties in other areas of the hospital as assigned.

High School Diploma or equivalent required. Medical Terminology and Anatomy coursework required or willing to obtain within one year of employment. Graduate from an accredited school of surgical technology preferred.  Surgical Technician Certification preferred.  Approximately one year of related work experience required.  Individual will be ineligible to transfer from the department for a period of two years.

CENTRAL SERVICE TECHNICIAN

Surgical Services

The Central Service Technician is responsible to clean and process instruments, maintain and provide specialty supplies and portable equipment that is necessary and essential to the care of the patient.

High School Diploma or equivalent required. Approximately one year of related work experience in healthcare required. Sterile Processing Certification preferred. CPR required.

CRISIS COUNSELOR

Patient Care Management 

Provides assessment and evaluation for mental health patients in order to determine the appropriate plan for services.

Master’s level Social Work or Related Field preferred. Will consider LBSW or BSN with mental health experience.

PHYSICIAN

Garrett Family Medicine, Specialty Physicians of Garrett County, LLC

The physician will plan, implement and maintain a program of health and wellness for patients and families.  Evaluate, diagnose, and deliver of plan of care and evaluation for patients on an individual basis. Performs a thorough assessment, evaluation and treatment of patients presenting with urgent conditions and stabilize their conditions.  Decisions to transfer patients will be made in consultation with the receiving physician.  Arrange for follow up care for patients and their families presenting to the facility.  Cares for patients of all ages from infancy to elderly.

Candidates must be Board Certified or Board Eligible in Family Medicine.  Individual must have active MD licensure, DEA and CDS and will be required to credential with the Medical Staff of Garrett Regional Medical Center for outpatient practice.  Preference would be given to candidates who have at least 2 years’ experience in primary, urgent or emergency care services.

CERTIFIED REGISTERED NURSE ANESTHETIST (CRNA)

Garrett Anesthesia Services, LLC

The CRNA provides anesthesia for 55 bed hospital with coverage for 3-room operating plus endoscopy suites. Large number of scopes, orthopedic, general, ophthalmology, gynecology cases. Also do C-sections, GYN, and healthy ped elective surgeries. Experience with variety of cases and ages.  Experience with epidurals, blocks and general anesthesia preferred. Call 1:6 and weekends. Assists with pre-op screenings. Must help with Joint Commission requirements for the OR. Works under supervision of Anesthesiologist.

Must be licensed by Maryland State Board of Nursing or have the ability to obtain Maryland license before date of hire.

ANESTHESIOLOGIST

Garrett Anesthesia Services, LLC

The Anesthesiologist has a varied caseload including orthopedics, general, ophthalmology, pediatrics, obstetrics, GYN, urology, and vascular. Must be proficient in regional and blocks. Supervision of five CRNA’s and assistance with regulatory standards required.

Individual must have active MD licensure, DEA and CDS and will be required to credential with the Medical Staff of Garrett Regional Medical Center for outpatient practice.
