Advanced Practice Professional

Surgical Services

The Advanced Practice Professional (APP) has coordination and clinical skills required for the comprehensive management of hospitalized patients. The APP coordinates involvement of medical/surgical specialty teams necessary to develop a comprehensive plan for the patient, and reviews the plan of care with the other members of the clinical team, participates in directing that care, performs diagnostic/therapeutic procedures, peri-operative services, and coordinates ambulatory management and/or discharge planning/follow-up (as applicable). The APP participates in the education of residents and medical/nursing students.

MSN or MPAS. Nurse Practitioner, Advance Practice Registered Nurse, MD state CRNP certification. ACLS certification. Must be a member in good standing with GRMC Medical Staff with active privileges.

Certified Medical Assistant

Integrative Pain Management Center

The Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) assists with clinical and administrative assistance in the Integrative Pain Management Center. The CMA will accurately register and schedule the patient; obtain demographic and insurance information, collect payments, provide receipts, and prepare daily deposits. The CMA will obtain vital signs, perform and document interviews and prepare patient for examination and/or treatment. Duties will include preparing the examination/procedure room, assisting the physician and providers with procedures, recording examination/treatment results, and inventorying and ordering supplies. The CMA will also provide education, resources, referrals, and instructions to patients.

High school diploma or equivalent required. Must have medical assisting training and be familiar with medical terminology. National Medical Assistant Certification required.


Certified Medical Assistant

Grantsville Medical Center

The Medical Assistant assists the physician and patients by providing clinical and administrative support in the office and clinics of Specialty physicians of Garrett County, LLC. The medical assistant will accurately obtain all demographic and payer information needed to produce a patient record. Accept payment, print receipts and prepares daily deposits accurately. Performs outpatient pre-authorization/insurance verifications as required and informs patients about financial liabilities, requests appropriate copay and deductible amount at time of services. The Medical Assistant will also obtain vitals and prepare the patient for examination by the medical provider. The Medical Assistant will assist the provider as required.

High school diploma or equivalent required. Must have medical assisting training and be familiar with medical terminology. National Medical Assistant Certification required.


Clinical Support Assistant

ICU Department

The ICU- Clinical Support Assistant follows the plan of care as directed by the professional nursing staff and assists in maintaining a positive physical and psychosocial environment for the patients.

High School Diploma or equivalent required. Gradate from an approved nursing assistant program preferred, but not required. SafeClinch certification required. EKG course required. Approximately one-year related work experience preferred. Maryland State Board of Nursing- Nursing Assistant Certification preferred, but not required.


Cook

Dietary Department

The Cook prepares and cooks food for patients, employees, and visitors according to standards, practices, and procedures. Assists in the overall sanitation of the department and equipment.

High School diploma or equivalent required. Approximately one (1) year of on-the-job training in food preparation, cooking, and principles of sanitation and safety preferred.


Crisis Counselor

Patient Care Management

The crisis counselor provides assessment and evaluation for mental health patients in order to determine the appropriate plan for services.

Bachelor’s level Social Work or Related Field preferred. Will consider LBSW, BSN, RN, or LPN with mental health experience.


Geriatric Nursing Assistant

Subacute Unit

The Geriatric Nursing Assistant follows the plan of care as directed by the professional nursing staff and assists in maintaining a positive physical and psychosocial environment for the patient.

High School Diploma or equivalent required. Approximately one-year related work experience preferred. Maryland State G.C.N.A. Certification required.


Housekeeping

Environmental Services Department

The Environmental Services Associate cleans walls, lights, fixtures, and furniture in all assigned areas of the hospital to maintain as aseptic environment and prevent healthcare-associated infection, using standard cleaning procedures and chemicals. Cleans, waxes, extracts, and maintains floors, carpeting, and stairwells and assists with heavy cleaning throughout the hospital.

High School diploma or GED preferred but not required. Must have reading, writing and math skills adequate to work independently to perform duties in a safe, competent manner. Previous related experience of at least 3 months preferred.


HIM Coding Specialist

HIM Department

To ensure accurate and appropriate gathering of information into the coding classification systems to meet departmental, hospital and outside agency requirements. This includes ensuring appropriate reimbursement, compliance and charging with the various coding guidelines and regulatory agencies. Responsible for obtaining accurate and complete documentation in the medical record for accurate coding/MS-DRG assignment, severity of illness and risk of mortality for each medical record. Must code inpatients and/or interventional RAD cardiology/radiology 90% of current FTE status. Responsible for the coding of the highly complex patient classes i.e. inpatient, interventional, etc.

High School Diploma or Equivalent required.
Certification in one of the following required: RHIT, RHIA, CCS, COC-A, COC, Formerly CPC-H, or CIC.
Graduate of Health Information Technology (HIT) or equivalent program OR Medical Coding Certification Program (preferred).

 


LCSW-C or LCPC

Specialty Physicians of Garrett County – Health & Wellness Center

The Certified Licensed Clinical Social Worker or Licensed Professional Counselor will be responsible for diagnostic clinical assessment of clients presenting to the behavioral health center. Therapeutic services, community connections and referrals will be utilized to provide comprehensive care according to individual patient needs. Clinicians are expected to utilize evidence-based modalities/frameworks in which they are adequately trained/certified to address the specific needs of individual patients (these may include, but are not limited to: EMDR, CBT, ACT, DBT, motivational interviewing, etc.). The social worker or counselor will practice according to their licensing board’s code of ethics and standards of professional practice. Clinicians will actively participate in the multidisciplinary team approach to facilitate the best care possible. The clinician will provide professional consultations to coordinate care within the community. The social worker or counselor will participate in weekly treatment team meetings and psychiatric consultations. Candidate should possess the ability to de-escalate and respond to crisis care professionally and empathetically. Candidate should have a thorough understanding of professional, timely documentation, and billing requirements.

Master’s level social worker or counselor required. LCSW-C or LCPC required.


Lead Nutrition Services

Dietary Department

Functions of a team leader may include the following: review call-offs and follow procedure for calling in replacements; reorganize tasks to cover vacancies; upholds policies of the department; cash-out with cashiers; order food and supplies (web base, phone, pars); complete inventory; complete safety, sanitation and quality checks; oversee training; schedule catering assignments; carries department phone for patient orders; prepares food at the child care center; assists management in ensuring daily departmental objectives are achieved. Serves as departmental representative in the absence of supervisory staff.

Must have a valid Food Service Worker Permit (FSWP) from the County Health Department (CHD) prior to starting OR obtain a CHD Temporary FSWP no later than the first Wednesday of employment* and a permanent CHD FSWP within 1 month of start date (next available class). Must have a valid CHD FSWP throughout employment. *Until a Temporary FSWP is obtained: May not handle exposed food or any food contact surface, equipment, or utensil; May be trained on tray delivery and complete general department orientation. High School Diploma preferred, but not required. Experience in area functioning as a lead preferred.


Medical Staff Coordinator

Medical Staff Affairs Office

Coordinates and administers day-to-day operational management and administrative support of the centralized credentialing process for Garrett Regional Medical Center. The process includes, but is not limited to, new applications, provisional reviews, and biennial reappointments for members of the Medical and Independent Allied Health Professional Staff as defined by the Hospital’s Medical Bylaws, and Rules and Regulations.

High School Diploma or equivalent, required. Bachelor’s degree or specialized training, preferred. Five (5) years of experience in an administrative setting, required. Experience in a hospital or medical facility, preferred. 


Mental Health Nurse Practitioner: Inpatient & Outpatient

Specialty Physicians of Garrett County – Health & Wellness

The Mental Health Nurse Practitioner will be responsible for direct patient care and inpatient evaluations for patients with mental health diagnosis. The Mental Health Nurse Practitioner will provide medical and psychological services to patients and families, inclusive of all functions necessary to provide quality medical care; follow medical protocols, handouts and clinical standards. They will collaborate with inpatient staff and medical providers on recommendation for care.

Three to five years of related work experience required. Master’s Degree in Mental Health Nurse Practitioner or above required. Clinical expertise in mental health area required. SAMHSA and/or DATA training completion required. Advanced Practice Registered Nurse required. MD State CRNP Certification required. MD DEA and CDS required. Must be a member in good standing with the GRMC Medical Staff with active privileges.


Manager of Nutrition Services

Dietary Department

Responsibility and regulatory accountability for nutrition and food operations, assuring safe, quality, efficient food handling, preparation, and service of food for all customer groups. Manager ensures that safety, sanitation and customer service and behavior standards are maintained in the department. Manager has additional direct patient oversight responsibilities.

High School Diploma or equivalent required. Certified Dietary Manager certification required within one (1) year. SafeServ Certification required within one (1) year. Two (2) years high volume food service job experience with at least One (1) year as a Lead or Supervisor required. Two (2) years of high volume food service supervisory experience in a healthcare setting preferred.


MLT/MT

Laboratory Department

The Medical Laboratory Technician performs standard tests, obtains and prepares specimens for testing, determines and evaluates results, records and reports tests results, performs quality control procedures, performs routine maintenance on equipment according to established policies and procedures. Functions in all areas of the laboratory.

The Medical Technologist performs standard tests, obtains and prepares specimens for testing, determines and evaluates results, records and reports test results, performs quality control procedures, performs routine maintenance on equipment according to established policies and procedures. Functions in all areas of the laboratory.

AA Degree in Medical Technology required. BA/BS Degree in Medical Technology preferred. 3 months to 1-year related work experience preferred. ASCP or equivalent required.


Phlebotomist

Lab Department

The Phlebotomist collects blood and other specimens, ensures suitability and integrity of specimens collected, performs duties in areas including inpatient, outpatient and off-site services and assumes responsibility for the safety and comfort of patients following established standards, policies and procedures.

High School or equivalent plus 3–12-month training program required. 3 months to 1-year related work experience preferred. Phlebotomy CPT required. Driver’s license required.


Physician

Specialty Physicians of Garrett County, LLC- Grantsville Medical Center

The Grantsville Medical Center CRNP or Physician will plan, implement and maintain a program of health and wellness for patients and families. The CRNP or Physician will evaluate, diagnose, and deliver of plan of care and evaluation for these patients on an individual basis. The CRNP or Physician will perform a thorough assessment, evaluation and treatment of patients presenting with medical conditions and stabilize their conditions. The CRNP or the Physician will make the determination regarding when transfer of patients is necessary. The Physician will perform minor procedures in the as outlined in their credentialing. The Physician will arrange for follow up care for patients and their families. The CRNP or Physician will care for patients of all ages from infancy to elderly. The Physician will participate in Quality Assurance/Performance Improvement activities as well as Maryland payment model initiatives. The CRNP or Physician will attend hospital committee meetings, as appropriate.

Physician candidates must be Board Certified or Board Eligible in Family Medicine. Individual must have active MD licensure, DEA and CDS and will be required to credential with the Medical Staff of Garrett Regional Medical Center for outpatient practice. Preference would be given to candidates who have at least two (2) years’ experience in primary, urgent or emergency care services. CPR certification required, ACLS preferred.

 


Physician’s Assistant

Professional Emergency Physician Services, LLC

Physician Assistant provides direct medical care to patients. They chart medical history, assess health status, diagnose any potential issues, and work with physicians and other health professionals to provide high-quality care.

Master of Science degree in a Nurse Practitioner Program or Physician Assistant Program from an accredited graduate program. Must be licensed to practice in Maryland and able to maintain unrestricted licensure/certification to practice medicine per state guidelines. Maintain Board Certification, DEA Certification, DOT Certification. Demonstrate ability to calculate drug dosages. Demonstrate ability to handle emergency situations calmly and effectively. Demonstrate the ability to maintain good inter-personal relationships with co-workers and health team members. Document continuing education per licensure and certification requirements and clinic protocols.  Must demonstrate knowledge of the rationale of appropriate patient care. Approximately 3-5 years of related work experience required.


Physician’s Assistant or CRNP

Radiology/CT Technologist

Radiology Department

The Radiology Technologist operates radiographic/CT equipment to perform diagnostic x-ray and basic CT examinations as directed by physicians according to established standards and practices. Exercises professional judgement and attitude in performance of services and provides appropriate patient care. May act as a preceptor for Radiologic Technology students from Radiology programs that use GRMC as a clinical site.

High School Diploma or equivalent plus 13-24 months training program required. ARRT & Maryland State Radiographer license required.

The Cancer Care Institute Registered Nurse is a professional caregiver who assumes responsibility and accountability for a group of patients for a designated time frame. The RN is a clinical practitioner who coordinates and implements patient care specific to the age of the patient population served on the unit. The RN ensures quality care is provided in an efficient and safe manner, consistent with the unit’s standard of care.

Applicant must be a graduate from an accredited school of nursing with current license in Maryland or Multi-State licensure. BSN preferred. Oncology certification or willing to obtain within six months, required.


Social Worker

Health and Wellness Center

The Social Worker plans, organizes, and implements social work services for patients and families. This includes counseling and seeking resources to meet the patient’s needs. Directs department staff, oversees scheduling, and evaluations. Manages and oversees the clinical social workers and crisis counselors. Is available for Crisis Intervention.

Masters in Social Work from accredited college or university required. Approximately 1 year of related work experience required. LCSW-C or LCPC required.
