Meeting the pastoral and spiritual needs of our patients, Garrett Regional Medical Center offers a “Chaplain of the Day” service that provides patients access to a chaplain seven days a week. Chaplaincy services are non-denominational and are administered by members of the clergy from the surrounding area.
The Garrett Regional Medical Center Foundation, the fundraising arm of the hospital, is comprised of a governing board and offers volunteer opportunities for special events throughout the year. It also hosts the biennial hospital gala.
For more details about the Foundation or how to become involved with this organization, see our Foundation web page.
Volunteers In Various Areas (VIVA)
VIVA stands for Volunteers in Various Areas and represents the largest volunteer branch at Garrett Regional Medical Center. The VIVA volunteers help our patients and visitors ranging from greeting, escorting, comforting, and acting as liaisons between physicians and patient’s families during surgery. They also provide staff support for a variety of projects and daily office duties. Additionally, the VIVA volunteer branch offers immense friendship and fellowship opportunities for our volunteers.
The Loar Auxiliary supports the gift shop and the gift shop volunteers are dedicated to assisting customers, keeping merchandise fresh and well-stocked, and always maintaining a clean, cheery showroom. Prospective volunteers for the Loar Auxiliary Gift Shop may call 301-533-4045 or LoarAuxiliaryGiftShop@gcmh.com.
